Begali's Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2004 is a beautiful example of full bodied Amarone style. Their blend uses a lot of the fuller bodied Corvina grape and none of the molinara, this and their terroir as well as their more traditional use of oak. creates a more mature flavoured Amarone that coats the palate like nectar. Aged for 3 years in new oak and then 6 months in bottle, this Amarone created on the small family estate of 8 hectares is excellent, especially when considering the difficult year. It has been awarded 91 points by the Wine Spectator as well as numerous Italian wine awards including the coveted 3 bicchieri. Only 5,000 were made.
