A multi grape blend dominated by Nerello Mascalese and Nerollo Cappuccio, with smaller quantities of Nocera, Cappuccio Tignolino cor'e palumba, acitana, galatena and calabrese. As such it is seen by many to be a Mediterranean cousin to Chateauneuf-du-Pape. How ever its complexity and refined elegance probably makes it a closer match to Barolo or Burgundy. Faro has consistently won the highest awards and plaudits in Italy, and the 2005 vintage has just been voted the best Red Wine in Italy 2008 by the Gambero Rosso wine and food organisation.
