Made in the mountains north of Avellino in the surrounding area of the community of Tufo, Irpinia and Chianche. This is a newer wine for Villa Matilde but having bought vineyards that have been growing Greco since the late 1950's their wine and its character is already well established. In the 2008 guide to Italian wines this Greco di Tufo has been been lauded as "Amazing and definately one of the best Greco di Tufo's ever. The nose is citrus-like and smoky...and the weighty, long palate is a delight". Indeed it won their second highest recommendation of 2 Red Glasses and a special 'Oscar' for its value.
